1:2 Stock Split: BEML Limited, a renowned defence public sector undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Defence, has recently announced its first-ever stock split. The company’s board has approved the sub-division of its equity shares in the ratio of 1:2, marking a major milestone in its corporate history.
According to the company’s filing, each existing equity share of face value Rs 10 will be split into two equity shares of face value Rs 5 each, fully paid up. The board approved the move at its meeting held on September 29, 2025.
The record date for determining shareholders eligible for the stock split benefit has been fixed as November 3, 2025, the company said in its regulatory filing. BEML shares will also turn ex-date on November 3 itself.
BEML, a Miniratna Category-I company, operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Defence and plays a key role in manufacturing equipment for sectors such as defence, railways, and construction.
The company had undergone a demerger in 2022, when it spun off its non-core land assets into a separate listed entity named BEML Land Assets Ltd. The demerger was executed in a 1:1 share ratio, with September 2022 set as the record date.
BEML has maintained a consistent dividend payout record. In 2025, it declared dividends on three occasions—Rs 1.20 per share in September, Rs 15 per share in May, and Rs 5 per share in February.
In the preceding years, the PSU distributed total dividends of Rs 20.5 per share in 2024 and Rs 10 per share in 2023.
As of October 27, 2025, BEML’s market capitalization stood at Rs 18,020 crore, according to NSE data. On Tuesday, shares of BEML closed at Rs 4,314, down 2.40 per cent from the previous session.
