After temporary shutdown of Jammu and Chandigarh airports, Railway Minister orders special trains to meet public needs

Special Trains For Public: Due to the temporary shutdown of Jammu and Chandigarh airports, Indian Railways has decided to run multiple special trains to help stranded passengers. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reviewed the operational arrangements and, after a comprehensive assessment of the situation, directed railway officials to coordinate with various government agencies and operate trains to help people in the border areas.
Along with regular trains, special trains should also be operated as per the requirement. Following these directives, Indian Railways operated four special trains from Jammu and Udhampur on May 9, 2025:
