The CNBC-TV18 poll had estimated the number to come in at 14,246 units.

The drop was primarily driven by weakness in the medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) bus segment, which saw a 22% decline to 1,841 units, compared to 2,371 units in the same month last year. M\&HCV truck sales also dropped 9% YoY to 6,119 units.
In the domestic market alone, total sales stood at 12,509 units, down 7% from 13,446 units in April 2024. Domestic M&HCV truck sales fell 10%, while bus sales plunged 28%. However, light commercial vehicle (LCV) sales rose 6% to 5,103 units in the domestic market and 5,461 units overall.
