Bank stocks rally as Nifty Bank touches fresh record after India–US deal

The Nifty Bank index opened at a fresh lifetime high on Monday after the announcement of the India–US trade deal. The index opened at 61,411.20, sharply higher than its previous close of 58,619.00. It quickly touched a new record high of 61,764.85 in early trade.
After the strong opening, the index saw some volatility. It slipped to an intraday low of 60,015.30 as traders booked profits at higher levels. Despite the dip, the index continued to trade firmly in positive territory.
At around 9:41 am, the Nifty Bank index was trading at 60,066.80. This marked a gain of 1,447.80 points, or 2.47 per cent, for the day.
