Bharat Dynamic Share Price Target: Shares of Bharat Dynamics (BDL) tumbled to their lowest level in over nine months on Monday, plunging 9 per cent to Rs 1,260 on the BSE in intra-day trade amid heavy volumes, even as the broader market held firm.

The stock has now lost 18 per cent over the past two trading days, touching levels last seen on April 9, 2025. From its 52-week high of Rs 2,096 on May 30, 2025, Bharat Dynamics has corrected nearly 40 per cent, while it had previously hit a 52-week low of Rs 908.90 on March 3, 2025.

At 2:17 PM, the stock was trading 8.1 per cent lower at Rs 1,274.40, compared with a 0.41 per cent gain in the BSE Sensex. Trading activity surged, with over 4.73 million shares changing hands across the NSE and BSE, more than double the average volumes for the counter. Showing some recovery, the stock closed at Rs 1329, down 3.98 per cent.

Analysts said the sharp decline was primarily driven by concerns over margin pressures and weak quarterly performance. The company reported a standalone net profit drop of 50.4 per cent to Rs 72.9 crore for Q3 FY26, down from Rs 1,471.2 crore a year ago.

EBITDA fell 42 per cent year-on-year to Rs 123.1 crore from Rs 211.3 crore. Total revenue declined 47 per cent on year to Rs 5,666 crore from Rs 8,321 crore. On a quarterly basis, revenue dropped 50.6 per cent from Rs 11,470 crore, while net profit fell 66 per cent to Rs 729 crore. EBITDA for the quarter was down 60 per cent to Rs 123 crore from Rs 308.1 crore in Q2.

Motilal Oswal Financial Services downgraded the stock to “Buy” with a reduced target of Rs 1,800 from Rs 2,000, citing concerns over the higher share of bought-out components, which are expected to continue weighing on margins. The brokerage also cut its earnings estimates by 21 per cent for FY26, 17 per cent for FY27, and 14 per cent for FY28.

Investors remain cautious as the defence manufacturing major faces pressures on margins and revenue, even as the long-term outlook depends on government orders and strategic defence programs.

Bharat Dynamics’ stock tells a story of contrasting timeframes. Over the long term, the stock has delivered stellar returns, with a five-year gain of 829.20 per cent, far outpacing the Sensex’s 77.74 per cent rise. Its three-year performance of 237.53 per cent further underscores its historical strength.

However, recent trends signal caution. Over the past year, the stock has risen 21.28 per cent — ahead of the Sensex’s 7.18 per cent gain, yet falling well behind the Aerospace & Defence sector, which surged 58.64 per cent, marking an underperformance of 37.36 percentage points.
