BHEL Q4 Results: Profit, revenue miss estimates; modest expansion in marginsBHEL has won thermal power plant orders worth 5.5GW in the March quarter. More commentary on order inflow and the road ahead for FY26 is awaited.By Meghna Sen May 16, 2025, 2:41:09 PM IST (Updated)2 Min ReadShares of state-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. saw choppy moves from the day's high on Friday, May 16, in response to its March quarter results, which were a miss on analyst expectations.
Net profit for the company increased by 4% to ₹504 crore, but a CNBC-TV18 poll had projected the figure to be ₹696 crore.
Revenue for the quarter increased by 9% from the same quarter last year to ₹8,993.4 crore. The figure is also below the CNBC-TV18 poll of ₹10,715 crore.
BHEL's Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortisation stood at ₹831 crore, well below the ₹1,023 crore estimate. On a year-on-year basis, the EBITDA went up by 14.2%.
EBITDA margin for the quarter increased by around 40 basis points from the year-ago quarter to 9.25%, while the expectations for the margins stood at 9.55%.
Brokerage firm Philip Capital sees strong order inflows of ₹40,200 crore in the quarter. Order inflows could be at ₹88,000 crore for FY25, compared to ₹78,000 crore in FY24, up 13% year-on-year.
Investec expects BHEL's order inflow at ₹43,200 crore as against ₹41,952 crore, up 3% year-on-year.
BHEL has won thermal power plant orders worth 5.5GW in the March quarter.
Consequently, order backlog could increase 20% sequentially and 46% year-on-year to ₹1.9 lakh crore.
