The agreement covers the manufacture of fused silica radar domes using the cold isostatic pressing and sintering route. Radar domes are critical components for seeker-based guidance systems in missiles, protecting sensitive sensors while allowing electromagnetic signals to pass through without distortion.

DMRL, which has long-standing expertise in high-temperature alloys and advanced ceramics, has transferred this technology to BHEL to enable indigenous production of the domes.

According to the disclosure, the move is expected to bolster India’s self-reliance in strategic defence systems, reducing dependence on imported components.

The details of consideration and specific commercial terms were not disclosed by the company, citing confidentiality.
