Bihar Polls: 53.77% voting recorded; Begusarai saw the highest turnout so far

A voter turnout of 52.77 per cent was recorded in the Bihar assembly polls today, November 6, till 3:00 PM, according to the Chief Electoral Officer. Today marks the first phase of the Bihar polls, with the second phase scheduled for November 14.

In Begusarai, there is the highest voter turnout (59.82 per cent) recorded followed by Muzaffarur at 58.40 per cent and Gopalganj at 58.17 per cent. Patna district continues to record a slow-moving voter turnout among all districts at 48.69 per cent.

Among the key constituencies, Raghopur recorded a turnout of 55.20 per cent, Mahua at 52.11 per cent, 51.17 per cent in Alinagar, Tarapur at 55.33 per cent, Lakhisarai at 55.47 per cent, Chapra at 50.88 per cent, Bankipur at a low 34.80 per cent, Phulwari at 54.12 per cent, Raghunathpur at 50.63 per cent, Siwan at 51.65 per cent, and Mokama at 55.12 per cent. The first phase will decide the fate of several senior leaders, including RJD's Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, BJP leaders Samrat Choudhary and Mangal Pandey, and JD(U)'s Shravan Kumar and Vijay Kumar Choudhary. Tej Pratap Yadav is also in the fray in the first phase.

An average voter turnout of 27.65 per cent was recorded till 11 AM. Among the 18 districts, Begusarai recorded the highest turnout of 59.82 per cent, followed by Muzaffarpur at 58.40 per cent and Gopalganj at 58.17 per cent. Patna district continues to record a slow-moving voter turnout among all districts at 48.69 per cent.

While Begusarai (30.37 per cent), Lakhisarai (30.32 per cent), Saharsa (29.68 per cent), and Muzaffarpur (29.66 per cent) witnessed comparatively higher participation, several other districts also reported moderate to encouraging polling figures by mid-morning.

Patna district saw the lowest turnout so far, with 23.71 per cent.

In Madhepura, 28.46 per cent of registered voters had cast their votes by 11 a.m., while Darbhanga reported a turnout of 26.07 per cent. In Gopalganj, the figure stood at 30.04 per cent, indicating steady participation since the polling began. Siwan registered 27.09 per cent, and Saran saw 28.52 per cent turnout, while Vaishali recorded 28.67 per cent. Samastipur also witnessed decent participation at 27.92 per cent.

Meanwhile, Khagaria reported 28.96 per cent polling, Munger 26.68 per cent, and Sheikhpura 26.04 per cent. In Nalanda, the turnout stood at 26.86 per cent, while Bhojpur registered 28.02 per cent and Buxar recorded 26.76 per cent by 11 AM.
