BMW Group India on Tuesday announced the appointment of Hardeep Singh Brar as its new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective September 1, 2025. Brar will take over from Vikram Pawah, who has been named the CEO of BMW Group Australia and New Zealand.

In an official statement, the company said Brar’s appointment comes at a time when India is emerging as one of the fastest-growing markets for BMW globally. “India is among the fastest growing markets for BMW Group and an important pillar of our long-term success strategy for the region,” said Jean-Philippe Parain, Senior Vice President, Region Asia-Pacific, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa, BMW Group.

Brar brings with him over 30 years of experience in the Indian automotive industry. He most recently held the position of Senior Vice President – Sales and Marketing at Kia India. His extensive industry expertise and strategic acumen are expected to bolster BMW Group's growth and operations in the dynamic Indian market.

“Hardeep Singh Brar holds vast expertise and an intricate understanding of the Indian automotive industry to lead this dynamic market and strengthen BMW Group's operations here,” Parain added.

The company also acknowledged Vikram Pawah’s significant contribution to the brand’s expansion and success in India. Pawah has been associated with BMW Group since 2017, leading operations in India during two terms (2017–2018 and 2020–2025) and also heading BMW Group Australia from 2018 to 2020.

“In recent years, Pawah fixed BMW Group India's gaze on expanding market share through new opportunities and target groups, and taking electric mobility, digitalization, retail experience and customer centricity to the next level,” the company noted.

BMW Group India operates with its premium brands—BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad—and focuses exclusively on the luxury vehicle segment. Headquartered in Gurugram, BMW India is a wholly owned subsidiary of the BMW Group. The company began its operations in 2007, while MINI was launched in India in 2012 and has since positioned itself as a leading premium small car brand.
