BSE Bomb Threat News: On Tuesday, July 15, the Bombay Stock Exchange got an email threatening to blow up the facility. The bomb squad and police arrived on the scene quickly, but found nothing unusual, according to ANI.
The threatening email was received through the BSE’s official website. The sender identified themselves as “Comrade Pinayari Vijayan” and claimed that “four RDX IED bombs have been placed in the BSE's Feroze Tower Building, and they will explode at 3 pm.”
The moment the email was flagged, a bomb detection and disposal team (BDDS), along with Mumbai Police officials, reached the BSE and began a floor-by-floor search. The area was secured as per standard threat response protocol.
No suspicious objects were found, and authorities later confirmed the bomb threat was fake. A case has been registered at the Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Marg Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigations are ongoing to trace the source and IP address of the email.
This incident comes a day after a series of similar hoax threats were issued in other parts of the country.
On Monday, the Golden Temple in Amritsar was also targeted with a bomb threat via email. The email claimed explosives were planted in Sri Harmandir Sahib’s Darbar Sahib and langar (community kitchen) areas. The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) immediately registered a complaint, and the area was thoroughly searched by security forces.
Amritsar MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla posted on the social media platform X, saying, “An email has been received threatening to blow up Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) with RDX. This is not just a threat to a religious site – it’s an attack on peace, faith & humanity.”
With high-profile institutions like the BSE and Golden Temple receiving similar threats within hours of each other, authorities are now examining whether these incidents are linked. Cybercrime units are actively working with local police and intelligence agencies to trace the digital footprint of the perpetrators.
Officials are urging the public not to panic but to remain vigilant. Police have also assured that enhanced cyber monitoring and physical surveillance will remain in place across sensitive locations in the country.
