The two new indices will be — BSE Sensex Next 30 and BSE Focused Midcap Index. This expands BSE's derivatives basket from two indices — Sensex and Bankex — to four.
NSE has five-index derivatives.
Sensex Next 30 comprises of the top 30 large-cap companies after the top 30 that are part of the benchmark Sensex index. The categorisation is done on the basis of free-float market capitalisation on the BSE.
Meanwhile, the BSE Focused Midcap tracks the top 20 midcap companies by free-float market cap within BSE's midcap segment.
BSE reported a net profit of ₹602 crore in the third quarter, up 174% from the previous year. Its net profit margin increased o 45% from 26% in the previous fiscal.
BSE's revenue surged 62% to ₹1,244 crore from ₹768.1 crore in the third quarter of the prior fiscal.
Its consolidated operating earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA), including the income from the core settlement guarantee fund (SGF), tripled to ₹732 crore from the previous year. Its operating margin expanded to 59% from 31% in the year-ago period.
Shares of BSE Ltd. ended the previous session 0.3% lower at ₹2,635.9 apiece. The stock has declined 8.9% in the past month, but has gained 13.6% in the last six months and 83.9% in the past year.
