The Chinese Embassy in India plans to make the China Online Visa Application System available from Monday.

This step is intended to make the visa application process for Indian tourists more straightforward and less time-consuming.

The Chinese Ambassador to India put the announcement on the social media site earlier in a confirming post that applicants would be able to fill out online visa application forms and upload necessary documents online after December 22, 2025.

Through the new system, the users are able to use the service via the official website, which provides convenience and efficiency.

The introduction of the online platform means that applicants might not have to wait long at the beginning of the visa processing because now a lot of the documentation can be submitted digitally.

Even though the online system is in place a visa application service center in New Delhi will still offer help to the applicants.

The center's hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

It is positioned on the Concourse Floor of Shivaji Stadium Metro Station, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Connaught Place, New Delhi.

Most importantly, before the applicants give their physical passport and other required documents to the Visa Application Centre, they should check their application status shows "online review completed" and that they have got a confirmation email.

The launch of the online visa application system is regarded as a move towards improving people-to-people exchanges and making travel between India and China easier.

According to earlier reports, the Ministry of External Affairs announced the complete restoration of the visa regime for the Chinese nationals coming to India for tourism or business purposes, which means the five-year suspension imposed due to the 2020 border conflicts has come to an end.

At the weekly press conference, the spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, said, "Visas were being issued to the Chinese nationals for tourism and business visas were already being given. So, you know all those visas are there, now. The visa regime of tourism and business is fully functional," as reported by ANI.

"India, meanwhile, officially resumed issuing tourist visas to Chinese nationals worldwide in November 2025, going beyond a limited reopening that began in July 2025. Business visas were already being issued prior to this announcement and that process remains in place."

The lifting of visa restrictions is part of a series of "people-centric" confidence-building measures mutually agreed upon by the two sides in 2025, which also included the resumption of direct commercial flights in October 2025 and the revival of the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra pilgrimage.

This action is anticipated to not only attract tourists and traders from both ends but also to further facilitate the exchange of ideas and cultures between the two most populated nations on the globe.
