As tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad continue to flare up following the ghastly Pahalgam terrorist attack, the Indian Army, on Tuesday, conducted a joint exercise with the Armed Police Forces, aimed at fortifying preparedness for a range of security scenarios, as a mark of operational readiness and inter-agency coordination.
The Indian Army, taking to microblogging site X, wrote, “Sharpening skills for joint operations, we stand ready for all operational scenarios,” the Army stated, underscoring its commitment to seamless cooperation between military and paramilitary units.
This development comes close on the heels of a cryptic show of strength by the Indian armed forces on Saturday.
A day later, the Indian Navy, in a statement, revealed that its warships deployed in the Arabian Sea recently conducted multiple successful anti-ship missile firings. The drills were aimed at revalidating the readiness of naval platforms, systems, and crew for long-range precision offensive strikes.
Security agencies have ramped up anti-terror crackdown in Jammu and Kashmir, while in national capital Delhi, the Prime Minister prepares to chair another CCS meet on Wednesday.
This will mark the second high-level CCS meeting since the April 22 attack. Key members, including Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, are expected to attend.
The first CCS meeting, held on April 23 - just a day after the attack - saw the Centre announce a series of strong diplomatic steps against Pakistan, widely seen as a firm signal of retaliation.
