Air quality across most parts of Delhi-NCR has once again dipped to the ‘very poor’ category, raising fresh health concerns for residents. While a slight improvement is expected from tomorrow, pollution levels remain alarmingly high. On Sunday, several cities even breached the ‘severe’ category, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

CPCB warn that air quality in the 300–400 range can lead to respiratory illnesses upon prolonged exposure, while levels between 400–500 not only affect healthy individuals but can also severely impact those with existing health conditions.

0-50: Good

Health issue: Minimal or no impact on health

51-100: Satisfactory

Health issue: Minor breathing discomfort to sensitive people

101-200: Moderate

Health issue: Breathing discomfort to most people on prolonged exposure

301-400: Very poor

Health issue: Respiratory illness on prolonged exposure

401-500: Severe

Health issue: Affects healthy people and seriously impacts those with existing diseases.
