Delhi AQI Today: Air quality plunges to ‘severe’ category, pollution level crosses 400 in several areas

Published on 30/10/2025 12:59 PM

Delhi’s AQI, which was in the ‘poor’ and ‘very poor’ range till yesterday, has now slipped into the ‘severe’ category. The rising pollution levels indicate worsening air quality across the city. Residents are advised to take precautions, avoid outdoor activities, and use masks or air purifiers to stay safe from toxic air.

Earlier, Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Tuesday announced that a cloud-seeding operation to trigger artificial rain in the national capital would likely be conducted on Wednesday. However, the plan was later put on hold due to insufficient moisture in the clouds.

The cloud seeding could have helped bring some improvement in the Delhi's deteriorating air quality.

According to a statement issued by IIT Kanpur, the process is highly dependent on the right atmospheric conditions. "While rainfall could not be triggered yesterday because moisture levels were around 15 to 20 per cent, the trial delivered valuable insights." ANI reported.
