The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has revised passenger fares with effect from Monday, August 25, 2025, introducing a minimal hike ranging between Rs 1 and Rs 4 across routes. On the Airport Express Line, fares have been raised by up to Rs 5.

According to DMRC, the base fare has been revised from Rs 10 to Rs 11. Under the new structure, passengers travelling 0–2 km will pay Rs 11 (earlier Rs 10), 2–5 km Rs 21, 5–12 km Rs 32, 12–21 km Rs 43, 21–32 km Rs 54, and more than 32 km Rs 64.

For Sundays and national holidays, the revised fares are Rs 11 for 0–5 km, Rs 21 for 5–12 km, Rs 32 for 12–21 km, Rs 43 for 21–32 km, and Rs 54 beyond 32 km.

In a post on X, DMRC said, “The passenger fares of the Delhi Metro services have been revised with effect from today. The increase is minimal, ranging from Rs 1 to Rs 4 only depending on the distance of travel (up to Rs 5 for the Airport Express Line).”

This is the first revision since 2017, when the base fare was increased from Rs 8 to Rs 10 and the maximum fare beyond 32 km was hiked to Rs 50.

The fare hike has triggered mixed reactions from commuters. Sonia, a passenger, told ANI, “A middle-class family cannot afford the metro fares. Some people can, but some cannot. The fares should not be increased so that the middle class can also afford them.”

Another commuter, Armaan, pointed out payment issues, saying, “The government should work on making the payment more convenient for us. The Metro Card does not work everywhere. Other than that, if 2–4 rupees are increased, that is not a problem.”
