Delhi-NCR’s air quality had touched the ‘severe’ category in several areas on Tuesday, and residents face some relief on Wednesday. But, According to CPCB data, the overall AQI has had again deteriorates compared to yesterday, with many areas now in the ‘very poor’ category and a few still in the severe range.

The AQI has crossed 350 mark in many regions of Delhi-NCR today, and leaning towards severe category again.

Delhi-NCR’s air quality, which had reached to ‘severe’ category in several areas on Tuesday, showed brief signs of improvement on Wednesday morning. However, according to the latest data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the overall AQI has once again deteriorated compared to the previous day.

Many parts of the region have slipped back into the ‘very poor’ category, while a few continue to remain in the ‘poor’ range . The average AQI across Delhi-NCR has crossed the 360 mark, indicating a return toward hazardous pollution levels and posing renewed health concerns for residents.

However, experts caution that both categories remain concerning and residents should continue to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from pollution.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperatures in Delhi-NCR are expected to decline gradually over the next few days. In Delhi, the maximum temperature is likely to rise from around 26 degree Celsius on November 6 to 28 degrees Celsius by November 12, while the minimum temperature may fall from 13-11 degrees Celsius.

Whereas, in Noida the maximum temperature is likely to decrease from 28 degree Celsius on November 6 to 27 degree Celsius on November 12, while the minimum temperature mat fall from 14 degree Celsius to 13 degree Celsius. It is expected that fog or mist would occur in early morning these days.

The combination of lower night temperatures and morning fog or mist is likely to trap pollutants closer to the ground, further aggravating the smog situation.

According to the Air Quality Index (AQI) classification, a reading between 0 and 50 is considered good, 51–100 is satisfactory, 101–200 falls under moderate, 201–300 is poor, 301–400 is very poor, and 401–500 is categorised as severe.
