Delhi Rains, Bad Weather: Flights connecting Delhi could be impacted on Monday, August 25, due to bad weather conditions in the national capital. Weather office IMD has predicted showers in the national capital.

Tata group airline Air India took to microblogging site X (formerly Twitter) to advise its passengers to check the status of their flights to and from the national capital before heading to the airport.

The airline also shared a link that passengers can use to check the statuses of their flights.

The airline wrote: “Rain may impact flight operations to and from Delhi today. Please check your flight status here (link)…before heading to the airport and allow extra time for your journey to the airport.”

The advisory comes as heavy rain and low visibility conditions are expected to blanket Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA). 

The national weather forecaster has predicted "generally cloudy sky" with the possibility of "very light to light rain or thundershowers" between Tuesday and Saturday. 

For Monday, the weather office has forecast "generally cloudy sky" with a "spell of very light to light rain or thundershowers at a few places during the night". 

IMD issues timely warnings during extreme weather conditions to reduce risks and damages.

IMD provides daily forecasts, long-range climate assessments and alerts, aimed at safeguarding lives and property. It functions as the country’s nodal agency for weather observation, forecasting, climate tracking and disaster management.

The national weather office operates a countrywide network of observatories, satellites and radars that collect and analyse real-time data that it uses to predict weather conditions in different regions.
