In yet another dramatic turn of events in the ongoing trade war roughly a week into America imposing a 25 per cent duty on Indian imports, US President Donald Trump on Monday warned of a substantial increase in the tariffs on the Asian country, accusing New Delhi of profiting from Russian oil.
"India is not only buying massive amounts of Russian oil, they are then, for much of the oil purchased, selling it on the open market for big profits," wrote Trump on social networking platform Truth Social.
India doesn't "care how many people in Ukraine are being killed by the Russian war machine", wrote Trump, adding that it is for this reason that he "will be substantially raising the tariff paid by India to the USA".
"Thank you for your attention to this matter," wrote the 47th US president.
