A Luxembourg-based disco-soul singer has found popularity both online and offline because of his striking resemblance to tech magnate Elon Musk. But it's more of a harassment than a compliment for the 28-year-old who said he was being frequently stopped by strangers who mistake him for the Tesla and SpaceX CEO.

“I don’t take it as a compliment to be compared to Elon because he’s not a nice person. He’s also not at all good-looking," Hugo One told New York Post. He said the unwanted attention he gets ranges from supermarket aisle interruptions to nightclub queue confrontations. The latest incident occurred during a recent reunion with friends in Aberdeen, Scotland, where a group of men, upon spotting One, exclaimed, "You're Elon Musk!"

"They couldn't believe" he wasn't the billionaire, Hugo recollected.

But One agreed that there was an advantage to looking like Musk -- it helps his music get some extra attention.

"It's created some great traffic to my page and people are downloading my songs," he said.

One's journey with his Musk doppelgänger status began in 2018 while working as an English and French teacher in Berlin, Germany, when a student first pointed out the resemblance. Since then, the encounters have become a recurring, if unwelcome, part of his life.

"It happens a couple of times a month when people comment on my physical similarity to Musk," Hugo explained. Thankfully, he reports no instances of abuse stemming from the mistaken identity.

Despite the constant attention, One asserts he's comfortable with his appearance and has no plans to alter it.
