Muhurat Trading 2025 Date and Time: The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has officially announced the date and timings for the special Muhurat Trading session for 2025. The one-hour symbolic trading session will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, coinciding with Diwali, the festival of lights.
Muhurat trading is a special one-hour trading session held every Diwali on both NSE and BSE. It marks the beginning of the new Hindu financial year, Samvat, and is considered an auspicious time for investors to make new beginnings.
On this day, traders and investors perform Lakshmi Puja, seeking blessings from Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and prosperity. Many investors believe that making investments during this time brings luck and growth in the coming year.

The practice of Muhurat Trading has deep historical and cultural roots. The tradition began informally with business families in Gujarat and Rajasthan, who would open new account books (Chopda Pujan) and start fresh business transactions on Diwali.
The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) officially institutionalized this custom in 1957, followed by the National Stock Exchange (NSE) in 1992. The word “Muhurat” means an auspicious time, symbolizing a fresh start filled with optimism and prosperity.
Over the decades, Muhurat Trading has become more than just a symbolic gesture. It blends faith, finance, and festive sentiment, marking a hopeful beginning to the new financial year.
Even though trading volumes are often lower, the hour is filled with positivity and enthusiasm. Investors, both retail and institutional, participate actively—often buying blue-chip and fundamentally strong stocks as part of their long-term portfolio.
