US stocks fell after Supreme Court rebuffed President Trump tariffs.By Ajay Vaishnav February 23, 2026, 9:11:31 PM IST (Published)2 Min ReadForeign Institutional Investors (FIIs) turned aggressive buyers on Monday, infusing ₹3,484 crore into Indian equities and powering a broad-based rally that helped the benchmark indices extend gains for a second straight session after recent volatility.
Provisional data from the NSE and BSE showed FIIs reversing their net selling of ₹935 crore in the previous session.
Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs), meanwhile, booked profits and were net sellers of ₹1,292 crore, resulting in net inflows of ₹2,192 crore for the day.
In the prior session on Friday, FIIs had offloaded ₹934.61 crore, while DIIs had cushioned the market with net purchases of ₹2,637.15 crore.
NSE data showed FIIs remained strong buyers in the cash segment with inflows of ₹3,483.70 crore, even as DIIs sold ₹1,292.24 crore.
In the derivatives segment, FIIs bought ₹686.54 crore in index futures and ₹2,206.01 crore in index options. They were also net buyers in stock futures worth ₹2,981.5 crore and added ₹819.43 crore in Nifty futures, while trimming exposure to Bank Nifty with sales of ₹293.21 crore in futures and ₹1,880.76 crore in options.
Open interest in index futures saw fresh build-up on both sides, with long positions rising by 22,335 contracts and shorts by 17,756.
Overall, FIIs’ positioning remained short-heavy at 71%, with longs at 29%, suggesting caution despite continued inflows.
The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 479.95 points, or 0.58%, to close at 83,294.66, after hitting an intraday high of 83,486.15. The NSE Nifty 50 rose 141.75 points, or 0.55%, to settle at 25,713, with an intraday peak of 25,771.45. On Friday, the Sensex had gained 316.57 points to end at 82,814.71, while the Nifty had advanced 116.90 points to 25,571.25.
US equities traded lower as investors assessed the fallout from the Supreme Court’s rejection of President Donald Trump’s sweeping tariff measures, a move that has cast uncertainty over key trade deals.
