Stock Market Closing: Indian equity benchmarks wrapped up the week on a positive note Friday, extending their winning streak for an eighth consecutive session. The BSE Sensex rose 359.10 points, or 0.44 per cent, to close at 81,907.83. The NSE Nifty 50 advanced 108.50 points, or 0.43 per cent, to settle at 25,114.
Bharat Electronics, Bajaj Finance, Maruti Suzuki, Axis Bank, L&T and Infosys were among the top gainers on the Sensex. On the flip side, HUL, NTPC, Zomato (Eternal), State Bank of India, Power Grid and Bharti Airtel edged lower, capping gains in the benchmark indices.
The broader market also stayed in the green, with the Nifty Midcap100 index up 0.27 per cent and the Smallcap100 index higher by 0.52 per cent. Among sectors, the Nifty Auto index was the top gainer, rising 0.7 per cent, while the Nifty FMCG index was the biggest loser, slipping 0.62 per cent.
