Domestic Market Opening Bell: Indian equities opened higher on Monday, buoyed by strong buying in heavyweight names including Infosys, Power Grid, Bajaj Auto, HDFC Life, Adani Enterprises, TCS, IndusInd Bank, Tech Mahindra, and Trent.
The BSE Sensex kicked off the day around 80,052, up 242 points or 0.30 per cent, while the Nifty50 rose 81 points or 0.33 per cent to trade near 24,508.
Broader market indices also saw gains, with the Nifty MidCap index advancing 0.70 per cent and the Nifty SmallCap index climbing 0.54 per cent.

Meanwhile, the Indian rupee hovered near its all-time low, trading around 88.20 per US dollar, reflecting persistent pressure amid global currency volatility and concerns over foreign fund outflows.
Investors remain attentive to developments in India-US trade relations, following a recent ruling by the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. The court found that former President Donald Trump had exceeded his authority by imposing broad tariffs under his April 2 “liberation day” proclamation, though the levies remain in effect for now.
Market participants will also be watching today’s release of August auto sales data and the HSBC Manufacturing PMI Final for August, which could provide fresh cues on domestic economic momentum.
Among sectors, the Nifty IT index outperformed, gaining 1.2 per cent, driven by strong demand for software and technology stocks.
