GAIL delays MNJPL project to Dec; clears Jamnagar LPG pipeline expansionGAIL has extended the completion timeline for its 1,702 km Mumbai-Nagpur-Jharsuguda pipeline project to December 2025, while also approving a ₹5,364 crore capacity expansion of the Jamnagar-Loni LPG pipeline.By Sheersh Kapoor September 24, 2025, 3:23:53 PM IST (Updated)2 Min ReadGAIL (India) Ltd on Wednesday announced a revision in the completion schedule for its Mumbai–Nagpur–Jharsuguda Pipeline (MNJPL) project, stretching the deadline to 31 December 2025 from 30 September 2025.
The 1,702 km project comprises three sections: the Mumbai–Nagpur pipeline (693 km), the Nagpur–Jharsuguda pipeline (692 km), and the Nagpur–Jabalpur pipeline (317 km). According to the company’s filing, several parts are already mechanically complete.
The Mumbai–Nagpur section has finished construction and awaits approval from the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO). Similarly, in the Odisha and Chhattisgarh stretches of the Nagpur–Jharsuguda line (489 km), the pipeline is ready for gas-in, pending PESO clearance.
In Maharashtra, around 9 km of work remains on the Nagpur–Jharsuguda stretch, targeted for completion by December 2025. On the Nagpur–Jabalpur section, nearly all work is complete, with just 1.8 km left in Maharashtra, expected to be finished by October 2025. The board noted the project will be completed progressively by year-end 2025.

Separately, GAIL’s board approved the capacity expansion of its Jamnagar–Loni Petroleum Product (LPG) Pipeline (JLPL), which will double capacity from 3.25 MMTPA to 6.5 MMTPA.
The project, requiring an investment of about ₹5,363.88 crore, is scheduled for completion within 36 months from the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board’s (PNGRB) authorisation on 23 July 2025. Funding will come from a mix of debt and equity.
As of 3:02 pm, shares of GAIL were trading 1.60% lower at ₹175.80 on the NSE.
