A gas leak was reported during a re-drilling operation at ONGC Well No. 21 in Pasarlapudi village, located in Mamidikuduru Mandal of Andhra Pradesh’s Konaseema district. The incident occurred earlier today but was quickly brought under control by ONGC’s emergency response teams.
Fire engines deployed near the site played a key role in neutralising the gas leak and preventing any fire outbreak. Authorities confirmed that no casualties or damage were reported in the incident.
Hanumanth Rao, Inspector from the Fire Department, stated that ONGC officials acted promptly to stabilise the situation. “Further drilling activities will be resumed only after comprehensive safety checks are completed,” he assured.
Officials have also initiated a safety audit to ensure there are no lingering hazards before operations recommence.
