Published on 27/10/2025 08:55 PM

For the past one week, gold has been showing a steady decline. As on October 27, according to MCX, gold was trading at Rs 1,26,655 per 10 grams. However, since that day, the yellow metal has been losing momentum, and is now trading at Rs 1,22,890 per 10 grams, marking a 1.15 per cent decline.

The metal had earlier touched its lifetime high of Rs 1,32,294 per 10 grams, sparking curiosity among investors about whether another sharp rebound could be on the cards, similar to the surge seen before the festive season , or if the metal will continue to dip further.

In the domestic market the prices of yellow metal in the last week were trading around:

On October 20, 2025:Rs 1,26,655

October 21: Rs 1,26,900

October 22: Rs 1,20,875

October 23: Rs 1,22,300

October 24: Rs 1,21,451

October 25: Rs 1,21,400

October 27: Rs 1,22,890

Gold, which had been trading at record highs earlier this month, ended the week on a weaker note both in domestic and international markets. Whereas, in the global market, gold is currently priced at $3,994.62 per troy ounce, down by 2.84 per cent intraday. However, the precious metal has gained 7.49% over the past 30 days.

The white metal, too, has mirrored gold’s performance, witnessing a noticeable decline after strong gains earlier this month. According to MCX, silver has dipped by around Rs 11,000, currently trading at Rs 1,47,479 per kg, marking a 1.73 per cent drop.

Both gold and silver are showing a “cooling down” behaviour after their massive pre-festive surge, indicating possible profit booking by traders and subdued demand.

In the domestic market the prices of white metal in the last week were trading around:

On October 20, 2025: Rs 1,53,131

October 21: Rs 1,48,508

October 22: Rs 1,43,829

October 23: Rs 1,45,900

October 27: Rs 1,44,925

In the international market, silver is currently trading at $46.32 per troy ounce, showing a 4.71 per cent intraday decline.

According to Manoj Kumar Jain of Prithvi Finmart, gold and silver witnessed heavy profit-taking after a two-month-long rally.

“Gold and silver showed a heavy sell-off last week after a two-month historic bull run. Both precious metals plunged from record-high levels amid a rebound in the dollar index and positive trade talks of the United States with China and India. The Gaza peace deal and rebound in the dollar index also triggered profit-taking in both precious metals,” Jain said.

He added that while the correction was overdue, “the US shutdown and cooling off in US inflation supported bullion prices at lower levels. The possibility of US Fed rate cuts is also lending support to gold and silver prices.”

With both gold and silver entering a phase of correction after record-breaking highs, market watchers believe the coming weeks can be crucial. Investors are keeping a close eye on global cues, inflation data, and currency movements to check whether the yellow and white metals will rebound or extend their current dip.
