Google launches Gemini 3 Flash: What’s new, how to access, price & availability

Published on 18/12/2025 05:48 PM

Google expanded its Gemini 3 artificial intelligence lineup with the launch of Gemini 3 Flash. It's a new model designed to deliver high-end reasoning capabilities at faster speeds and lower costs, and the company has made it the default model in the Gemini app, replacing Gemini 2.5 Flash for users worldwide.

With the rollout, Google aims to bring next-generation AI capabilities to a wider audience across its consumer products, developer platforms and enterprise services.

The launch follows last month’s introduction of Gemini 3 Pro and Gemini 3 Deep Think mode, which Google said received strong early adoption. According to the company, the Gemini 3 models are currently processing more than one trillion tokens per day through its API, with users applying the models to tasks ranging from coding and simulations to game development and multimodal analysis.

Gemini 3 Flash is positioned as a faster and more cost-efficient version of Gemini 3, while retaining advanced reasoning, vision and multimodal capabilities. Google said the model combines Pro-grade reasoning with significantly lower latency.

On industry benchmarks, Gemini 3 Flash demonstrated strong performance on advanced reasoning and knowledge tests, including GPQA Diamond and Humanity’s Last Exam. It also matched or exceeded the performance of larger models across several multimodal benchmarks, while using fewer tokens on average to complete tasks.

According to Google, the model is able to dynamically adjust how much reasoning it applies depending on task complexity, allowing it to respond faster for simpler queries while maintaining accuracy on harder problems.

One of Gemini 3 Flash’s key advantages is speed. Google said the model is up to three times faster than its previous-generation Pro models, while operating at a fraction of the cost. Pricing for developers has been set at $0.50 per million input tokens and $3 per million output tokens.

The company said the Flash model continues the focus of the Flash series, which prioritises responsiveness and efficiency without compromising intelligence.

Gemini 3 Flash is being rolled out across multiple developer platforms, including Google AI Studio, Gemini API, Gemini CLI, and Google’s new agentic development platform, Google Antigravity. It is also available to enterprise customers through Vertex AI and Gemini Enterprise.

Gemini 3 Flash is available in preview through Google’s developer tools, including Google AI Studio, Android Studio, Vertex AI and Gemini Enterprise. The rollout to the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search has also begun globally.

Google said the launch marks a step towards making advanced AI reasoning more accessible, while balancing performance, speed and cost across its ecosystem.
