HMD T21 Review: Last month, HMD (Human Mobile Devices) launched the HMD T21 tablet in India for Rs 15,999. Equipped with a 10.36-inch 2K display, OZO audio playback, 8MP rear and octa-core Unisoc T612 processor, the tablet is a blend of power, design, and innovation, the company claimed. But is it worth buying, or is the company just hyping its new product? Read on to find out.
We used the 8+128 GB variant of the device in the Nexus Blue shade.
The tablet has a metallic body with a dark greyish stripe on the right side of the back. This strip has a camera module with a flashlight at the top, and the HMD logo at the bottom. The square module at the back has a glossy finish. The edges are rounded, and the bezels are even but thick. Despite the metal body, the device is not too heavy and feels right in the hands.

The HMD T21 features a stunning 10.36-inch 2K display and is SGS Low Blue Light certified for strain-free viewing. Because of its size, this tablet is good for portability, especially during travel. Along with its modest or medium-sized screen, it offers a fast refresh rate of up to 60Hz. Additionally, it also has OZO audio playback for a better audio experience. All in all, the display offers vibrant colours and brightness, making it a good device for multimedia browsing as well as activities like reading articles and using social media.
Powered by an octa-core Unisoc T612 processor and paired with 8GB of RAM, the HMD T21 is a decent performer, offering a seamless experience. It switches from one window to another with ease and can operate 2 windows at one time, including split screen. It runs on Android 13, with an update to Android 14 already available, and offers 128GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 512GB.
The device sports a dual camera setup, which includes an 8MP primary sensor and an 8MP selfie shooter with autofocus and LED flash. We found that the primary camera takes okayish photos, while the selfie camera seems to play a secondary role, leaving room for improvement.
The HMD T21 has an 8200mAh battery that comes with an in-box 18W fast charger. It takes more than 2 hours to get fully charged. We watched YouTube videos, Netflix, Amazon Prime, social media scrolling, etc., and found the battery life to be pretty good. However, the irritating part is its slow charging speed.
To sum up, here are the pros and cons of the HMD T21:
HMD T21 Review: Pros
• Medium-sized display, easy to carry
• Metallic design
• Decent battery life
HMD T21 Review: Cons
• Thick Bezels
• Slow charging speed
At this price, this device offers good battery life, a modest display, commendable performance, and a responsive screen. Moreover, this device is portable and hence easy to carry.
