The 59-year-old British actress Elizabeth Hurley and the 63-year-old country music icon Billy Ray Cyrus recently made their relationship public, sharing a touching and unexpected account of how their romance developed.

Their relationship didn't really take off until much later, but it started on the set of the 2022 Christmas movie Christmas in Paradise. Billy Ray talked candidly about their relationship in a recent interview on The Ty Bentli Show, revealing details about how they first connected and how their bond developed over time.

Billy Ray reflected on the early days of their interaction during the filming of Christmas in Paradise, where they shared a few brief scenes together. He noted that although their time on screen was limited, the chemistry between them was undeniable.

"We did very few scenes together but the couple times we were in the same scene there was a chemistry there," Billy Ray recalled. "We just laughed, and it was at a time I wasn’t laughing a lot." He mentioned.

Billy Ray admitted that one of the most surprising aspects of their connection was how they discovered their similarities despite their outward differences. “The oddest part was first, how much we laughed. Second, I figured we were so different but in some very strange way we had way more in common than we had different.”

But even though Billy Ray and Elizabeth clicked while working together, it wasn't until two years after the movie's conclusion that they actually spoke to one another. Elizabeth didn't reach out to Billy Ray until he was going through one of the most trying times in his life, which was after he and his wife, Tish Cyrus, had broken up. Billy Ray was feeling especially vulnerable and apprehensive about his future at this low point.

“I felt like, ‘Wow, can life get any harder? Can it get any tougher?’” Billy Ray confessed, describing his emotional state. “For me, at a certain point it was like, you can’t get knocked down any flatter than laying on your back when life is kicking you. And in this moment … a friend reached out.” That friend was Elizabeth, who reached out to Billy Ray during his emotional struggles.

When he received a message from an unknown number, Billy Ray didn’t immediately recognise who it was, which only added to the surprise. "I text back, I go, ‘Who is this?’ And it’s like, ‘Elizabeth Hurley.’ Of all the people to reach out to me in that second that maybe I needed most … this friend who made me laugh."

Billy Ray's life changed when he received an unexpected message from Elizabeth, which gave him hope and a much-needed lifeline. Her gesture served as a reminder to him of the value of friendship and laughter, even in the most trying circumstances.

As Billy Ray and Elizabeth spent more time together in the ensuing months, their relationship grew stronger. They became close through mutual respect, shared values, and, of course, lots of laughter. After thinking back on their relationship, Billy Ray is now certain that they can overcome any challenge life presents.
