‘Trump 2028’ merchandise: Trump store sells hats and T-shirts, sparking third term debate

Published on 25/04/2025 06:14 PM

US President Donald Trump has once again started signaling a possible third term run, as his online store begins selling merchandise featuring the slogan 'Trump 2028'.

The Trump store has started selling “Trump 2028” hat for $50 and a “Trump 2028” T-shirt for $36, other merch were also available on the website.

The product description for the hat read, "Rewrite the rules with the Trump 2028 high crown hat." The red and navy-blue shirt with the slogan "Trump 2028 (Rewrite the Rules)" printed on them are also available on the website.

The launch of 'Trump 2028' merchandise has reignited debate over whether Donald Trump intends to pursue a third term, raising questions about a potential challenge to—or reinterpretation of—the 22nd Amendment.

Can Trump run a third term?

During a March interview with NBC News, Donald Trump suggested he was open to the idea of a third presidential run, though he insisted it was too early to make any firm decisions. “A lot of people want me to do it,” he said.

“But we’ve got a long way to go. It’s still early.” When asked directly if he wanted another term, Trump responded, “I like working,” and hinted there could be ways to pursue it, adding, “There are methods you could use.”

Following his November 2024 victory over former Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump reportedly told a private group of Republican allies, “I don’t expect to run again—unless people say, ‘He’s doing such a great job, we’ve got to find a way.’”

In a lighthearted moment during a May 2024 speech at a National Rifle Association event, Trump joked with the crowd, asking, “If we win again, is that a second term or a third? What do you think—two-term or three-term?”

What does the law say?

According to the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.”
