Hyundai Motor India reported a steady performance in the December quarter of FY26, supported by healthy domestic demand and strong sales momentum at the start of 2026.

The automaker’s consolidated profit after tax rose 6.34 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1,234.39 crore in the December quarter, according to an exchange filing. The company had posted a profit of Rs 1,160.73 crore in the same quarter last year.

Revenue from operations increased 7.96 per cent to Rs 17,973.48 crore, compared with Rs 16,647.99 crore a year earlier.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation rose 7.61 per cent year-on-year to Rs 2,018 crore in Q3 FY26, up from Rs 1,876 crore in the year-ago period. EBITDA margin stood at 11.23 per cent, largely flat compared with 11.27 per cent last year, reflecting stable cost control despite input pressures.

Hyundai said domestic demand was supported by GST 2.0-related benefits and festive season tailwinds. Wholesale volumes rose 5 per cent on a quarter-on-quarter basis, while retail volumes remained robust during the quarter.

Commenting on the results, Tarun Garg said the quarter reflected strong execution of the company’s growth strategy. “The third-quarter performance underscores our resilience and strong execution of our quality of growth strategy, marked by healthy growth in volumes, revenue and profitability,” Garg said.

He added that on a year-to-date basis, EBITDA margins expanded to 12.8 per cent, compared with 12.5 per cent last year, supported by a better sales mix and prudent cost controls. Strong sales in January 2026, he said, provide momentum for the rest of the year.

Hyundai Motor India reported an 11.5 per cent year-on-year rise in total sales to 73,137 units in January 2026, compared with 65,603 units a year earlier. Domestic dispatches to dealers increased 9 per cent year-on-year to 59,107 units, while exports rose sharply by 20.9 per cent to 14,030 units.

The company said the strong January performance marked its highest-ever monthly domestic sales and total sales, highlighting sustained demand across markets.
