Captain Virender Sejwal's lawyer has given a statement about the occurrence that happened on December 19, 2025, at Terminal-1 of Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport.

The incident was portrayed as a “pilot vs passenger” conflict in the recent news and social media but the lawyer denied this description saying it was misleading.

The statement said that at the time of the incident Captain Virender Sejwal was simply an ordinary passenger. He was not on duty for the flight and he did not represent his profession in any way.

There was no link between the incident and his job or employer. It was a conflict of personal nature between two passengers and did not need to be presented as a professional dispute with a pilot involved.

The lawyer said that the reports and social media posts only presented one side of the matter and there was no mention of the whole thing.

It has been claimed that the other passenger Mr. Ankit Dewan, has tactically leaked information in a manner to give rise to a false and sensational story.

The assertion further states that during the clash, caste-based insults were hurled at Captain Sejwal.

Moreover, very serious threats were in fact made to his family members, including women and even a child, which really made the situation worse.

According to the explanation, the quarrel started when the other passenger insulted Captain Sejwal verbally without any reason.

Although the passenger was warned multiple times to stop, he kept on using abusive, insulting, and threatening language.

The airport's CISF staff were quick to jump in and take control of the situation.

Eventually, the issue was settled at the airport with CISF officials being present. Both passengers willingly signed a paper stating that they did not want to file any lawsuit.

CISF has stated that there was no coercion, no pressure, and no favoritism at all and that both parties voluntarily chose not to lodge any complaints.

The declaration states explicitly that this occurrence has nothing to do with Captain Sejwal’s employer or professional responsibilities.

Captain Sejwal has placed his complete trust in the authorities and has asked the media and public to consider only the verified facts and to refrain from spreading biased or misleading information.
