Indo Pak Conflict: Are schools near you open or closed today?

Several local governments and educational institutions have declared a holiday in educational institutions to ensure the safety of their students, in view of the ongoing Indo-Pak conflict in which India has swiftly targeted several major cities in Pakistan after Pakistan military’s attempts at targeting Indian locations in Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Punjab and Chandigarh using missiles, drones and other aircraft.

At the time of publishing this reports, only select schools in the national capital have announced online classes. Although there is no official order declaring a school holiday, most schools are learned to be open for the day.

Some teachers believe that schools and colleges should reverse a working day if the need arises. However, it’s not official at this hour.

Bordering states and UTs impacted; J&K, Rajasthan on the list

All schools, colleges and universities in J&K will remain closed on May 9 and May 10.

Punjab has already declared a holiday across, schools and colleges for three straight days, starting May 9.

Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced the decision on microblogging site X (formerly Twitter): "In view of the evolving situation, it is hereby ordered that all schools, colleges and universities” shall remain completely closed for the next three days.” That applies to all government, private and aided institutions in the state.

In Chandigarh, all schools are shut till Saturday. Also in the UT, Panjab University has suspended its exams scheduled for May 9, 10 and 12 indefinitely, stating that new dates will be announced in due time.

All educational institutions in Haryana’s Panchkula will remain closed on Friday and Saturday.

In Rajasthan, the state government has closed schools in five bordering districts: Sri Ganganagar, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Barmer.

In Haryana, schools will remain closed across Haryana, including Gurugram.

Authorities and institutions in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad have neither announced a holiday nor announced online classes yet.
