Jammu Kashmir News Live: In the aftermath of the brutal terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that left 26 civilians dead, India launched a scathing attack on Pakistan at the United Nations, branding it a "rogue state" responsible for fuelling global terrorism and destabilising regional peace.
Addressing the UN, India's Deputy Permanent Representative, Ambassador Yojna Patel, underlined the gravity of the April 22 attack, calling it the deadliest assault on civilians in India since the 26/11 Mumbai attacks in 2008.
Back home, Indian security forces have intensified counter-terrorism operations across Jammu and Kashmir. Multiple crackdown operations are underway to neutralise terror networks believed to have links with Pakistan-based outfits.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a high-level meeting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at his official residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, on Monday to assess the situation. The meeting followed a detailed briefing by Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, who outlined the measures being implemented to counter Pakistan’s actions after the attack.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has urged PM Modi to convene a special session of Parliament to discuss the national security situation. In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, Gandhi emphasised the need for political unity in the face of terrorism, stating, “At this critical time, India must show that we always stand together against terrorism.”
The April 22 assault — the most devastating since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019 — has triggered widespread outrage and renewed focus on India's strategy to counter cross-border terror threats.
