Jammu Kashmir News Live: Tensions between India and Pakistan continue to flare up with the Pakistan army breaching the ceasefire along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara, Uri, and Akhnoor sectors during the intervening night of May 2 and May 3.

The Indian Army that it has responded promptly and proportionately, according to official sources.

Notably, this is the ninth consecutive night of unprovoked firing by Pakistan.

In another development, New Delhi has blocked the X account of Pakistani Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar. This comes days after Tarar, in a press statement, alleged, without evidence, that India was planning a strike within 24-36 hours.

India has launched a widespread information crackdown, blocking accounts of several prominent Pakistani celebrities, including Fawad Khan, Atif Aslam, and Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

Meanwhile, as tensions run high, the European Union has urged both India and Pakistan to display “restraint” and engage in dialogue, echoing similar calls from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has, in the meantime, reiterated that India’s strength lies in both its military and its unity, receiving vocal support from Andhra Pradesh leaders Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan.

The already-strained ties between the neighbours have taken a further hit since the heinous terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22. In one of the deadliest terror attacks in recent years, terrorists opened fire on a group of tourists in the scenic Baisaran valley near Pahalgam, leaving 26 dead and over a dozen others injured.

The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba, is believed to be behind the Pahalgam attack, which drew widespread global condemnation.
