Due to persistent rain and repeated landslides along the route, the Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra had been halted for 22 days. The suspension follows a massive landslide on August 26 near Adhkuwari that killed 34 pilgrims and injured several others. Authorities said restoration work is underway, but the yatra will resume only when conditions are safe.

On Wednesday morning, hundreds of devotees gathered at the Banganga Darshani gate, the starting point of the Yatra, expressing joy and relief at the resumption of the pilgrimage.

SMVDSB officials said the yatra began at 6 AM from both routes leading to the hilltop shrine.

Due to the upcoming Navratri starting from September 22 till October 1, a large number of devotees are expected to visit the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in the coming days.
