Shares of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd ended lower on Friday (September 26) by 1.97% at ₹1,030.95 on the NSE.By Megha Rani   September 26, 2025, 4:53:26 PM IST (Published)2 Min ReadJindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) announced on Friday (September 26) that it has commissioned a 5 MTPA blast furnace at its Angul plant in Odisha, doubling hot metal capacity from 4 MTPA to 9 MTPA and making the site one of the largest single-location steel plants.

The new Bhagavati Subhadrika Blast Furnace – II, with a useful volume of 5,499 m³, ranks among the biggest and most advanced globally.

Naveen Jindal, Chairman of Jindal Steel, said, “Commissioning the Bhagavati Subhadrika Blast Furnace at Angul is a proud moment for Jindal Steel and for India. By doubling Angul’s capacity to 12 MTPA, we are strengthening our global competitiveness and reaffirming our commitment to Atmanirbhar Bharat. Rooted in Odisha’s culture and powered by cutting-edge technology, this furnace represents our vision to unite tradition with innovation.”

Jindal Steel said the commissioning gives fresh momentum to its long-term growth strategy, positioning Angul as the company’s central hub for expansion.

Future plans include a dedicated port at Paradeep, a slurry pipeline and coal pipe conveyor to strengthen supply chain efficiency, the Shreebhoomi Power Plant, and new coke oven facilities, the company mentioned in an official release.

Shares of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd ended lower on Friday (September 26) by 1.97% at ₹1,030.95 on the NSE.
