Shares of Jupiter Wagons surged sharply in early trade on Monday after the company’s promoter increased its holding, signalling confidence in the business. The stock jumped as much as 12.2 per cent to an intra-day high of Rs 292 per share on the BSE.
At around 12:42 am, Jupiter Wagons was trading 13.14 per cent higher at Rs 294.45, significantly outperforming the broader market. In comparison, the BSE Sensex was up 0.57 per cent at 85,409.61.
According to an exchange filing, promoter entity Tatravagonka acquired 28,72,340 equity shares of Jupiter Wagons for a total consideration of Rs 134.99 crore. Following the transaction, Tatravagonka’s stake in the company rose to 19.24 per cent from 18.69 per cent as of the September 2025 quarter.
The total promoter holding in Jupiter Wagons stood at 68.09 per cent at the end of the September quarter, reinforcing strong promoter control.
The rally pushed Jupiter Wagons’ market capitalisation to Rs 12,229.79 crore. The stock has been volatile over the past year, with a 52-week high of Rs 548 and a low of Rs 247.
Apart from promoters, individuals and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) collectively held a 10.8 per cent stake in the company. Among key shareholders, Murari Lal Lohia held the largest individual stake at 3.59 per cent, followed by Vikash Lohia with 2.69 per cent, Vivek Lohia with 1.84 per cent and Murari Lal Lohia HUF with 1.72 per cent.
Earlier, in a filing dated December 19, 2025, the company had also informed exchanges about the conversion of promoter warrants into equity shares, leading to a marginal increase in promoter holding and paid-up capital.
Jupiter Wagons is a diversified mobility solutions provider with operations spanning freight wagons, locomotives, commercial vehicles, and ISO marine containers. The company also manufactures key rail and mobility components such as couplers, draft gears, bogies, CMS crossings, brake systems, wheels, axles and wheel sets.
It operates manufacturing facilities across Kolkata, Jamshedpur, Indore, Jabalpur and Aurangabad, with full backward integration supported by in-house foundry operations.
