LIC Q4 Results: PSU insurer tops Street estimates; declares ₹12 dividendLIC beat CNBC-TV18 estimates on all key metrics including retail APE, VNB, and margins, even as its Q4 new business premium and VNB declined on a year-on-year basis.By Vipal Durge | Sheersh Kapoor May 27, 2025, 8:32:11 PM IST (Updated)2 Min ReadLife Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) reported its Q4 earnings for the period ended March 31, 2024, posting a mixed year-on-year performance, but beating CNBC-TV18 estimates across key metrics.
The state-run insurer’s new business premium declined 9% year-on-year to ₹70,019 crore from ₹77,282 crore in the year-ago period. However, this was higher than the CNBC-TV18 poll estimate of ₹68,714 crore.
Similarly, retail APE came in at ₹13,606 crore, down from ₹15,014 crore YoY, but sharply above the estimate of ₹11,020 crore.
Total APE for the quarter stood at ₹18,853 crore, surpassing the poll forecast of ₹16,826 crore. Value of New Business (VNB) also beat expectations at ₹3,534 crore against a forecast of ₹3,185 crore, though it declined 14% from ₹4,105 crore last year.
VNB margin stood at 18.75%, higher than the Street's estimate of 18.93%, but lower than last year’s 21.1%.
According to the company announcement, LIC India’s profit after tax rose by 18.38% to ₹48,151 crores YoY.
Commenting on the performance, LIC CEO & MD Siddhartha Mohanty said, “The year 2024-25 was very exciting and challenging. After a strong H1, we had to redesign and relaunch products to meet new regulatory norms, but we still achieved several milestones.”

The board recommended a final dividend of ₹12 per share for FY25, subject to shareholder approval.
