The jump in monthly sales was driven by an 18% increase in SUV sales.

In the utility vehicles segment, the Mumbai-based automaker sold 47,306 vehicles and overall, 48,329 vehicles, including exports. This was 18% more than 40,022 units sold in June last year. Meanwhile, the domestic sales for commercial vehicles stood at 20,575, marginally lower than 20,598 units sold in the same period last year.

“In June, we achieved SUV sales of 47,306 units, a growth of 18%, and total vehicle sales of 78,969 units, a 14% growth compared to the same month last year. The quarter ended on a very positive note for us, marking the highest quarter ever for SUVs,” Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd said.

Meanwhile, the company’s total exports grew by a percent in June YoY. The export sales stood at 2,634.

According to projections compiled by Nomura, passenger vehicle wholesales for the auto industry are likely to decline 5% year-on-year, making them the biggest underperformer in June.

Shares of M&M are trading flat at ₹3,188.50 on the NSE today.
