India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki is all set to unveil its first-ever electric vehicle, the e-Vitara, in the Indian market on September 3, 2025. Initially showcased at the Auto Expo earlier this year, the electric SUV was earlier expected to arrive in early 2025. However, Maruti has now advanced the timeline, confirming the launch via a formal “Block Your Date” invite.

The made-in-India e-Vitara also made its global debut in the UK last month, and has been frequently spotted testing on Indian roads over the past few months.

Maruti Suzuki’s e-Vitara is based on the brand’s new 'High-Tech & Adventure' design language and embodies the concept of an Emotional Versatile Cruiser. The front fascia features Y-shaped LED DRLs embedded into the headlamps, a prominent bumper with integrated fog lamps, and extended LED tail lamps that give it a distinctive look.

The profile is defined by large wheel arches and cleverly concealed rear door handles tucked into the C-pillar. The SUV rides on 18-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels, while the rear sports a silver-accented Suzuki logo and “e-Vitara” badging.

Buyers will be able to choose from 10 colour options—six mono-tone (Nexa Blue, Grandeur Grey, Splendid Silver, Arctic White, Opulent Red, Bluish Black) and four dual-tone (Arctic White, Opulent Red, Splendid Silver, and Land Breeze Green with a Bluish Black roof).

The cabin of the e-Vitara is equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster, and premium offerings such as front ventilated seats and a 10-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat.

It also becomes the first Maruti Suzuki model in India to come with Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), positioning it as a tech-forward offering in its segment.

Maruti is ensuring top-tier safety in its debut EV. The e-Vitara gets up to seven airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera among other advanced driver safety aids.

Under the hood, the e-Vitara is built on the Heartect-e platform, co-developed with Toyota. It uses an integrated eAxle powered by lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) batteries.
