Mercy, a heartfelt and evocative film about the difficult times of saying goodbye to a loved one, will be screened at the UK Asian Film Festival on May 5, 2025, at London's Rich Mix Theatre.

The film, which was directed by debutant Mitul Patel, focusses on the emotional fallout from love and the extreme bravery needed to say goodbye, rather than the theme of death.

“Mercy is a reflection on the quiet, often unspoken emotions that surround loss. It explores the strength it takes to make peace with the inevitable, and the love that continues even in the act of letting go," said Raj Vasudeva, who plays the lead role of Shekhar in the film and is also one of its producers.

Niharica Raizada plays Shekhar's wife Jiya in the movie, while Aparna Ghoshal plays the sick matriarch Sujata. Adil Hussain portrays Father Joel, the family's spiritual mentor during their darkest moments, while Kunal Bhan plays the conflicted brother Vihaan.

Adil Hussain shared his thoughts on the film, saying, “For me, Mercy is about that silent space where grief, love, and responsibility collide. It’s about those moments where you’re forced to make a decision not with your head, but with a heart that’s breaking.”

At the Cannes Film Festival last year, the trailer for Mercy was first shown at the Indian Pavilion, where it was warmly received. Everclear Films' feature film debut comes after their critically acclaimed short film Forbidden, which examined the problem of honour killings and was shown at more than 30 festivals across the globe.

Everclear Films' goal of telling courageous, emotionally stirring tales that inspire introspection and empathy is carried out with Mercy.
