Veteran Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman will be the 10th honouree of the Cannes and Kering-presented Women in Motion Award set to be presented at the Cannes Film Festival 2025.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the award will be given out on May 18 at a lavish gala event.

Women in film who have made substantial contributions to improving the role and representation of women on screen and in society are honoured with this prestigious award.

Nicole Kidman has been chosen for the Women in Motion Award in large part because of her commitment to supporting female filmmakers. She publicly committed to working with a female director every 18 months back in 2017, and she has since greatly exceeded that commitment by working with almost 20 women directors.

Her continued efforts to elevate female voices in film, according to The Hollywood Reporter, are a testament to the values that the Women in Motion initiative has upheld for the past decade.

Nicole Kidman expressed heartfelt gratitude upon receiving the recognition, describing it as a “true honour” to be chosen for the Women in Motion Award.

Salma Hayek Pinault, Viola Davis, Jane Fonda, Michelle Yeoh, Geena Davis, Patty Jenkins, Susan Sarandon, and Donna Langley are among the esteemed group of previous Women in Motion honourees that Kidman now joins.

Meanwhile on the work front, Nicole Kidman will be next seen in the latest season of Hulu's web series Nine Perfect Strangers.

The 78th annual Cannes Film Festival will be held from 13 to 24 May 2025. French actress Juliette Binoche will preside over the main competition's jury.
