The work of Noida International Airport (NIA) at Jewar is completed and preparations are underway for its inauguration. The aerodrome license from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is anticipated to be granted to the airport in the first week of November. Such a vital approval will pave the way for the commencement of the commercial operations, thus, signaling the completion of a significant step in the development of the aviation sector in Uttar Pradesh.

Earlier the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had on October 25 conducted a thorough inspection of the airport which was also the day he reviewed construction progress, terminal readiness, and inauguration arrangements before its official opening on October 30.

He was joined by senior officials from Noida International Airport Limited and also from the district administration during his visit to the terminal building and the infrastructure around it.

During his visit, the Chief Minister directed officials to prioritise quality, safety, and timely completion of pending work. He reviewed facilities like passenger amenities, fire safety, parking, lighting, and approach roads, while also reviewing critical systems like water and waste management.

Security preparedness was a key focus, with Yogi instructing strict and continuous vigilance across the premises.

Airport authorities confirmed that a calibration flight will take off this week to test navigational aids and air traffic systems, one of the final steps before DGCA certification. Once the aerodrome license is granted, commercial flights are expected to begin within 30 days, as airlines prepare for passenger services.

The Noida International Airport (NIA) has a vast expanse of 3,300 acres and alongside the first phase includes a single runway which can accommodate 1.2 crore passengers every year and about 150 flights daily. The airport is going to be developed further in the future with the addition of five runways and a capacity of 70 million passengers per year.
