The Panchmukhi Doli of Baba Kedarnath has officially departed for the revered Kedarnath Dham in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand, marking the beginning of the pilgrimage season. This sacred journey signals the commencement of the much-awaited Kedarnath Yatra for the year.

The gates of the Shri Kedarnath Temple are set to open for devotees at 7 am on May 2, 2025, as part of the traditional rituals that attract thousands of pilgrims seeking the divine blessings of Lord Shiva.

All You Need to Know About the Kedarnath Dham Yatra

Kedarnath Dham, one of the four Char Dham pilgrimage sites, is nestled amidst the majestic Garhwal Himalayas at an altitude of over 3,500 meters. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this ancient temple is believed to have been originally built by the Pandavas and later restored by Adi Shankaracharya.

The Kedarnath Yatra involves a scenic and spiritually significant trek starting from Gaurikund, covering a distance of approximately 16 kilometers to reach the shrine. For those unable to trek, helicopter services are available, ensuring that all devotees, irrespective of physical capability, can undertake the pilgrimage.

The yatra season typically begins in May and continues until October, with the temple’s opening and closing dates determined by traditional religious practices and weather conditions.

How and Where to Book Kedarnath Yatra Tickets

Pilgrims planning to visit Kedarnath Dham must complete mandatory registration and ticket booking in advance. Here's how you can do it:

Tourist Care Uttarakhand App: Available for both Android and iOS users.

Devotees must upload basic identification details (such as Aadhaar, Voter ID, or Passport) along with a recent photograph. After successful registration, a Yatra registration slip will be issued, which must be carried during the journey.
