Veteran actor Paresh Rawal is going to make a comeback on the big screen as Babu Bhai for the third time in Priyadarshan's Hera Pheri. The actor has already begun shooting for the third installment with Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty.
The actor became iconic and fans couldn't get over Babu Bhaiya and fell in love with it over the years but in a shocking statement, Paresh Rawal said there was a time when he felt that his onscreen persona became a 'gale ka fanda' for him.
He told Lallantop in an interview that he had reached a point where he desperately wanted to come out of his onscreen image and that is when he took the help of directors Vishal Bharadwaj and R. Balki.
Paresh Rawal said that post-Hera Pheri he was getting typecast and he wanted to break that mold quickly. He then went on to say that he felt the role had become his ‘gale ka fanda (noose).’
"Woh gale ka fanda hain. Main 2007 mein Vishal Bharadwaj ji ke paas gaya tha. 2006 mein part 2 release ho gayi thi. Ki mere paas ek film hai, mujhe iski jo ek image hai na, usse chhutkara chahiye. Same getup ke andar alag kissam ka role. Woh aap kar ke de sakte hain mujhe. Jo bhi ata he uske andar Hera Pheri hain. Main actor hu yaar, mujhe phasna nahi he iss daldal main. (It felt like a noose. I was with Vishal Bharadwaj ji in 2007. Part 2 of Hera Pheri had released in 2006. I told him I wanted to get rid of that image. I requested him to give me a different character with the same getup. I felt only he could do that. Whoever was approaching me post-Hera Pheri was in a similar kind of role. I told him that I am an actor and don't want to be stuck in one image.”
"Phir main gaya 2022 me R Balki ke paas. I said, Kuch karke do na, isko tod ke do. Yeh nahi toh kuch dusra karo. Isi, get up. Mein, mujhe kuch dusra character do. Mujhe dum ghutta hai. Khushi toh hoti hein yaar but ye bahoot hi bandhne waali cheez hain. Isse mukti chahiye, liberation chahiye." (In 2022, I moved to R. Balki.). I requested him to provide me something, maybe the same outfit but in a different part. I feel smothered. It makes me joyful, yeah, but there is a certain allure about it. I want to be free from that.)

Hera Pheri again
Talking about Hera Pheri, the first movie starring Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Rimi Sen, Bipasha Basu, and Paresh Rawal was released in 2000, and it became a superhit. Six years later, the hit trio returned to the silver screen with the second part, which was directed by the late Neeraj Vora and it was also a hit.
Since then, fans had been eagerly waiting for the third part and now Priyadarshan is returning to direct Hera Pheri 3.
