Reliance Industries (RIL) Chairman Mukesh Ambani on May 1 said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's attendance at the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) sends a strong message of "hope, unity and unshakable resolve" after the terror attack in Pahalgam.

WAVES is being held at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai from May 1 to May 4. The summit, which will have an extensive list of speakers from the entertainment world, aims to boost the potential of the media and entertainment industry that reached a revenue of Rs 2.5 lakh crore in 2024.

Addressing the summit, Ambani said, "No nation can match India's storytelling power. So let's take our stories to the global stage. India has become a front rank in digital. Tools of AI can make our stories more captivating and take our stories to the world. By mastering these tools, we will rule the global Indus with blockbusters."

WAVES would be a platform with an Indian soul and a global voice, the RIL chairman said.

"PM Modi gave a green signal for this summit a few months ago and his idea was to amplify India's voice at the world stage. We have representatives from 90 countries. This is 'Josh' of 'Naya Bharat' - Bold in its dream and fast in its execution," Ambani added.

The RIL Chairman had earlier strongly condemned the terror attack. Calling terrorism "an enemy of humanity", Ambani said it must not be supported by anyone in any manner. "We fully stand with our Honourable Prime Minister, the Government of India and the entire country in the decisive battle against the menace of terrorism," he had said.

At WAVES 2025, popular actor Rajinikanth said, "After the Pahalgam attack, many told me that the government will postpone WAVES but I have confidence in my Prime Minister who can meet any challenge."

Singer Shaan expressed grief over the terror attack. "Of course, there is grief in our hearts but as Raj Kapoor said - 'The show must go on'," he said, referring to the late actor and directors.

Actor Jackie Shroff added, "I pay my tributes to the families of the Pahalgam terror attack victims. Everyone is pained by it." When asked to comment on Pakistani actors' Instagram handles being banned in India, the actor said, "We don't want to interfere in government policy and create controversy."
