Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended warm congratulations to Mark Carney on being elected as the new Prime Minister of Canada, following the Liberal Party's victory in the federal election.

In a post shared on X, Modi lauded the deep-rooted democratic values that unite India and Canada and highlighted the enduring strength of their bilateral ties.

“Congratulations Mark J Carney on your election as the Prime Minister of Canada and to the Liberal Party on their victory,” he wrote. “India and Canada are bound by shared democratic values, a steadfast commitment to the rule of law, and vibrant people-to-people ties.”

Modi added that he looks forward to working closely with Carney to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two nations and to unlock greater opportunities for mutual growth and cooperation.
