Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to visit Kerala and Andhra Pradesh on Friday to launch and dedicate a host of big-ticket infrastructure projects across ports, highways, and railways.
His visit will begin in Kerala at around 10:30 am, where he will formally dedicate the Vizhinjam International Deepwater Multipurpose Seaport to the nation — a landmark project worth Rs 8,900 crore.
“It is the country's first dedicated container transshipment port that represents the transformative advancements being made in India's maritime sector as part of the unified vision of Viksit Bharat," According to an official statement.
Positioned near one of the world’s busiest maritime trade routes, Vizhinjam is India’s first fully dedicated container transshipment port. With a natural depth of 20 metres, the deepwater port is expected to boost India’s presence in global shipping lanes and reshape maritime logistics under the government’s “Viksit Bharat” vision.

These include seven key National Highway upgrades such as new overbridges, subways, and elevated corridors aimed at decongesting roads and easing interstate logistics.

PM Modi will also lay the foundation for a new rail project involving the construction of a rail-over-rail line at Guntakal Junction to decongest freight movement.
